Operating Engineers are proud of their big equipment. Get an eyeful of their massive rigs in our new video!
Since he was a child, Local 49 Business Agent Doug Zila, dreamed of being just like his dad—a big man with the license to operate some big equipment.
Today, he and the many men of women of Local 49, are living that dream–operating some of the largest, most sophisticated machines in the building and construction trades.
“We feel confident that we are the best,” 38-year veteran crane operator, Cal Ziegler, boasts with a smile. “But we have to work safe with everybody. That’s the goal—to have everybody go home safe.”
We met and talked with Cal and Doug, and their fellow 49’er, Troy Thorsten, last December on the site of the new Minnesota Vikings stadium.
